Overview
Throughout my time in my Art 375 class, Digital Design I: Website Development, I worked with a fictional start-up business called Sammy’s Subs. I was tasked with researching the process of buying gift cards, wire framing, creating a low fidelity prototype, and creating a high fidelity prototype of the gift card section of the Sammy’s application.
01 research & sketches
personalization is key
I first started the researching process by looking at how our competitors tackled this process. After comparing many companies, I found a top five. These companies created an easy and personable process that I admired and worked to resemble. I found different aspects from each company that I thought were strong and wanted to include in my own design. First, I found the different options to edit the amount of money on the card was clever and could relate to anyone’s preferences. Next, the option to add a personalized message was a must, as the feature added so much personalization. Continuing on with that emphasis on personalization, I liked the idea of the recipient of the cards name being included in the dialogue. The next feature I liked was the inclusion of different card designs. I liked that it let the viewer further customize the card to the occasion or person they are getting the gift for. Lastly, I loved the idea of being able to reload a card. This green option not only would keep plastic out of landfills, but also give the company a new way to gain positive PR for their efforts.

02 LOW FIDELITY PROTOTYPING
WORKING WIREFRAMES
I used the application Balsamiq to create a wireframe and a low fidelity prototype.
03 HIGH FIDELITY
FINAL LOOK IN FIGMA
Finally, I used Figma to create a high fidelity prototype. Below are the different components I designed and used as well as the website itself.
